Day 3...I'm on a roll!

It's starting to get a bit tougher to find a lesson in each day! I suppose staying in my pajamas all day and only leaving the house to go get the mail makes it a bit tough too....maybe that's today's lesson, that you don't learn anything if you don't leave the house :)

However, I overcame adversity and managed to find a lesson around the house! I learned that one man's trash not only is another man's dinner, but that chicken wing bones make an excellent dancing accessory.

I made some fantastic wings for dinner; Alex got chicken fries with the same sauce. Alex ate his food, then politely asked for more. I microwaved a few more chicken fries for him...but he'd already discovered the wing bones. So he ate exactly half of one chicken fry, then proceeded to nibble on the bones. He got them good and clean, at least! At one point, he had a mouth full of gristle and was chewing and chewing and chewing on it until I managed to get it all out. So what did he do? He went back to gnawing on bones.

We turned on some Noggin, and one of his favorite songs ("Love My Family" by the Roots...a very catchy little number, if I do say so myself...) came on. Well, heaven forbid he drop his bones in order to dance! He pranced about the living room, sucking on bones and dancing. It's never a dull day when Alex is around!

Day 2...still going strong!

Woohoo, two days in a row!

Today, I learned that soap can make quite a mess! Alex was being a little bit too quiet, so I went looking for him. He was in the kitchen, scrubbing away at the counter. He'd pulled the bottle of hand soap off the sink and would give it a couple of pumps, then move the bottle to the stove and go to town with the sponge. A minute later, he'd pump and repeat! He just loves cleaning the counters....

The whole kitchen smells like sweet pea....as does Alex! He had a big old mash of liquid soap on the back of his head (when you give him some soap or lotion, he automatically rubs it into the back of his head!), so he had his first sink bath in quite some time!

And a photo :)

Day 1...a new beginning!

A friend was talking about Project 365 - basically, you take a picture each day, so at the end of the year, you can go back and have something to remember each day by. I decided to do a bit of a twist on it...the idea came to me while we were eating at IHOP with some friends.

Alex, Steven, and Ever were being the typical boys they are...screaming, shrieking, and waving their arms around. Alex, being the slow eater that he is, still had half a GoGurt in one hand. Amanda said, "There's going to be GoGurt across the table real soon..." but we didn't really pay attention. Sure enough, about 30 seconds later, GoGurt sprays everywhere. Fortunately, it didn't hit anyone at other tables! I got it on my shirt, Eric got it on his jacket, and Alex got it in his hair (we won't even discuss how much got on the table). I grabbed a napkin to dab the stuff out of Alex's hair and learned my first lesson of the new year...GoGurt makes a lovely hair styling product! It's not greasy like many products, and it doesn't leave that stiff look to the style. Oh, and it's got a delicious strawberry smell!

Here's Alex before...

And with his new 'do! Speaking of which...I think it's about time for a haircut...
